[ Liars and thieves and all manners of criminals lock their doors, that's who, and Magdy is all three. Maybe not so much a thief unless you count conning people out of their money in exchange for faked famous paintings to be "thievery", in which case, he is also that. He tends to leave all the stealing to Elliot, anyway.
It takes Magdy a few seconds to realize that the sound of knocking is not actually part of the baseline of whatever garbage music he happens to be playing throughout his place today at what is probably too loud of a volume. He pauses in the middle of wrapping a mid-sized painting up in paper, remembers that Illya's supposed to be stopping by today (an actual time frame would have been useful, but he also didn't ask), and then props the painting up against a wall before moving to open the door. He turns his music down on the way and loops his hand through the roll of masking tape he'd been holding onto so it hangs from his wrist.
For once, he's not covered in paint when he opens the door. ]
Illyaaa. Howzit, mate? [ Magdy looks him over once and adjusts his glasses before stepping aside and holding the door open wider, smiling a bit. ] Come in, then.
[illya raises his eyebrows as a hello. then, shoving the thermos of tea into magdy's chest and barely waiting for him to take it into his hands (honestly would not be surprised if it dropped), he slips inside.]
That's for you.
[the tone of voice suggests it's as though it had been a burden to bring it in the first place, but he went and did it anyway. not that magdy had asked for tea, or anything-- illya believes that a gift should be brought to a house each time it's entered, be it something edible or a chachka to collect dust on a shelf. doesn't matter, as long as it's done.]
